OUTLINE

Unlike a lot of those portable headphone amplifiers in the market, for TU-HP02, the amplification stage contains no OPamps, but is configured with discrete semiconductor parts, which can minimise the crosstalk and produce high resolution sound. Moreover, FET of the input stage is trioderized to realize warm tuby sound like a tube amp.

Warm and Relaxing Sound

For TU-HP02, no ICs, such as OPamps, are used for the amplification stage. Instead, it is configured with discrete semiconductor parts that are selected as a consequence of repeated listening and examinations of various electronic parts in the market. Above all, we paid utmost attention in the selection of FET, and found one that best matches TU-HP02 to realize high quality sound. In addition, this FET in the input stage is trioderized to add a second harmonic to the sound, which realizes a warm sound like a tube amp. Second harmonic is a kind of distortion from the viewpoint of electricity. However, musically speaking, it is a frequency double the original sound and an important factor to give a depth and richness to the sound.

High Driving Performance

Dual supply is adopted for the power source for the amplification stage so that large capacitors that give bad influence to the sound are removed from the headphone output. Around the power supply, a lot of conductive polymer aluminum solid electrolytic capacitors are used to lower the impedance of the power. By the synergistic effect of discrete configuration and all these features, this portable headphone amp has become a piece of work with a clear sound, good separation, and high driving performance. Also, enough sound volume can be obtained even with headphones of high impedance.

High and Low Gains Selectable

2 levels of gains are selectable according to the input signal levels so that even a device with high output level, such as a stationary CD player, etc, can be connected.

30 Hours of Continuous Use with "AA" Batteries

Considering the availability and long time of use, TU-HP02 is made to work with "AA" alkaline battery x 4pcs. Moreover, it is possible to work with recharged NiHM battery x 4pcs as well. With normal level of sound volume, the batteries last for approx.30 hours when continuous use.
